6 Canadian Clubs to Compete at Thanksgiving Showcase

11 Squads from North of the Border to Compete Over Holiday Weekend

October 30th, Waltham, MA, 2018; The GPS Thanksgiving Showcase will have a bit of Canadian flavor this year with 6 Canadian clubs traveling to Massachusetts in late November to compete.

Notre-Dame-De-Grace Soccer Association, St. Francis Seminary, FC Emery Toronto, Soccer New Brunswick and Ottawa City Soccer Club will all be represented over the holiday tournament.

The Thanksgiving Showcase event will be held the weekend following Thanksgiving. This event is in the college showcase format and will give players chances to exhibit their talent in a highly competitive environment in front of a bevy of college scouts.

In total these six clubs will provide a total of eleven teams across both the boys and girls divisions. There will be eight boys squads and three girls squads competing.

Notre-Dame-De-Grace SA was founded in Quebec in 1979 and offers a competitive (inter-city) team for players in the NDG and the surrounding area that may not have their own competitive team to represent. The NDGSA will be represented by a Boys U16 team.

Also hailing from Quebec is the Seminaire Saint-François (St Francis Seminary) Blizzard. This school provides elite level sport in an impressive academic environment. The Blizzard will be represented in both the Boys and Girls division by a U19 and U17 team respectively.

Two boys sides, a U13 and U14, will be in attendance from FC Emery North York. FC Emery have been serving the North York area since 1991 and aims to provide high level training to any player, regardless of their socio-economic standing.

Soccer New Brunswick will be providing U18 teams for both the boys and girls divisions. Soccer New Brunswick has a long history, being founded in 1965, of bringing high level soccer education to their area with the mission of making soccer the sport of choice.

Vaughan Football Club, founded in 1986, will be sending their Vaughan Azzurri FC GU18 squad south of the border to compete.

Rounding out the Canadian teams traveling is Powered by GPS club Ottawa City SC. Ottawa City was created in 2014 when Ottawa Royals and Nepean City SC merged to great Ottawa Nepean SC. In 2015 the club officially changed its name to Ottawa City Soccer Club. They will be represented by three boys teams; BU13, BU15, and BU16.

The Thanksgiving Showcase will be held from November 23rd to the 25th and is open for both boys and girls squads U13 to U19. Registration for the event is still open but is closing fast!
