Young U10 girls compete on the biggest stage

This Presidents Weekend, the U10 Girls National Team North travelled to Kansas to represent GPS at the US Youth Futsal National Championships.

Following their recent title at the Northeast Regionals in January, the young girls had their first taste of a National tournament and all the experiences that come with it. As the only qualifying team of 12 entered in Northeast Regionals, the girls were solely representing GPS on the National Stage.

Sadly there was not the fairytale ending to the trip for the girls as they were not able to push all the way to the Final. However, Head Coach Matt Walker described the tournament as an "enormous success". "The girls application and effort throughout the weekend was excellent" said Walker, "they played some outstanding teams and were more than competitive on the National scale. It was also great to see how the group bonded, fought for each other and epitomized what GPS is all about."

National Team Coordinator Iain Martin hailed the girls achievement saying "We are all immensely proud of what this young group has achieved. Travelling across the country and away from home at their age is no small feat. They have had a taste of the next level and I am sure we will see them return to National events as they progress at GPS."

The GPS FC Bayern National Team program targets boys and girls born 2006-2000 and provides an elite tier for players from the entire GPS family to come together to practice and play at World Class and highly prestigious events. Later this year the program will see teams travel to Barcelona in Spain, Gothenburg in Sweden and a return to Northern Ireland for the Super Cup NI.
